About The Lincoln Park Music Festival
Attracting over 50,000 visitors yearly, the Lincoln Park Music Festival (LPMF) – A Celebration of Spirit and Dance - is a cultural ambassador and signature event in the City of Newark. LPMF is part of the economic development activities led by Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District (LPCCD) in Newark, New Jersey’s historic Lincoln Park section. The Festival annually has an economic impact of over 5 million dollars. Dedicated to revitalizing the area, LPCCD provides this free event in celebration of the spirit of the community. The music festival includes entertainers performing Jazz, Gospel, House and Hip-Hop. For children, the festival offers games, storytelling, skateboard, golf and basketball clinics and a host of family oriented activities. The festival also features a healthy lifestyle pavilion with free health screenings, massages, yoga and fresh organic produce from the Lincoln Park Community Farm. In addition, there is a green/sustainable market place, art and craft and food vendors. The green/sustainable market is designed to engage residents and festival participants in the “green movement,” specifically by showcasing the products and services of local and regional businesses and organizations. 8th Annual Lincoln Park Music Festival

The 8th Annual Lincoln Park Music Festival will be held from July 25th – July 28th. Programs will be presented by Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District and its partners. The Festival will include a range of entertainers performing a wide range of musical forms including Jazz, Gospel, House and Hip Hop and sounds from the African Diaspora; Youth performance showcase, green vendors, arts and craft vendors; local restaurants, organic farmers markets produce, and a health and wellness pavilion. For youth the Festival will offer games, storytelling, golf clinics, skateboard clinics and a host of family oriented activities. The Festival is sponsored by our corporate and community partners. Applications for food and merchandise vendors are reviewed on a first come, first serve basis. You must register with LPCCD before obtaining a special events permit application from the City of Newark (Go to: 920 Broad Street, Newark, NJ 07102). 7th Annual Lincoln Park Music Festival Summary
Over 40,000 attendees braved the rain this past weekend to attend the 7th Annual Lincoln Park Music Festival. The festival showcased the finest local and regional artists in the Hip-Hop, Jazz, Gospel and House Music genres over a three-day period. Through their newest partnerships with Branch Brook Park, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Newark Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Lincoln Park Music Festival was able to expand and reach other venues and additional musical genres.
The week-long celebration kicked off with the 1st Annual Lincoln Park Skate Party at Branch Brook Park to the incredible sounds of Naeem Johnson. Tuesday through Wednesday, Lincoln Park and YOPAT Newark Idol partnered with the New Jersey Performing Arts Center to provide pre-show performances for America’s Got Talent.
The legendary NewArkestra, the 8th Annual Newark Idol, Dawn Tallman and S3 and the Truth kicked off the music festival Friday, with rousing Jazz, Rhythm and Blues and Gospel performances that included a musical tribute to Whitney Houston.
Saturday’s “Celebration of House Music” brought out over 10,000 people despite the rain as WBLS and Legendary DJ’s Kevin Hedge, Lou Gorbea, T-Wise and Darnell all displayed their amazing talents. House Music legends Alicia Myers, Leroy Burgess, Kenny Bobien, Viola Sykes, Dawn Tallman, Rick Galactik, Keisha Hall, Tanja Dixon, and Jon Pierce also graced the stage with electrifying performances.
The Music Festival concluded on Sunday with Lincoln Park’s seven-year partnership with the legendary Rock Steady Crew. The “Celebration of Hip Hop” started off with the Lotus Yoga and the world-renowned Jules Febre teaching Hip-Hop Yoga to 75 eager attendees outside in Lincoln Park. The 35th Rock Steady Crew Anniversary brought out the likes of Newark’s own Redman, and Hip-Hop performances by Consequence and more.
“A project initially started as a marketing strategy for branding the multi-genre music activities and history of the Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District, has now become a project that not only celebrates Lincoln Park’s rich history, but also the enormous multi-genre musical contributions of the City of Newark,” says LPCCD Executive Director, Baye Adofo-Wilson. “I would like to thank to Lincoln Park Music Festival attendees for braving the elements, being respectful of the artist and each other, courteous and joyful over this past week. It was a beautiful thing to witness, especially when people expect us to be less than that. Keep providing us and the world with inspiration of the possibilities and we will continue working to make the dream of Lincoln Park, Newark as an exciting, entertaining, music-filled arts and cultural district a reality.”
6th Annual Music Festival Summary
The 6th Annual Lincoln Park Music Festival (LPMF) attracted over 50,000 people to Newark from national and international locations as far away as Japan, London, and Spain. The free three-day festival offered a one-of-a-kind experience for revelers to enjoy four genres of world-class African American music and dance in Lincoln Park’s green space; learn about the affordable health, wellness and green lifestyle options available to them; and participate in activities designed for seniors and children. Anthony Smith, Executive Producer of the LPMF says that, “The festival has evolved to become a cultural ambassador for the city. People come from around the world for this unique Newark, New Jersey experience.” Baye Adofo-Wilson, Executive Director of LPCCD adds that, “The 6th Annual LPMF was truly an experience with outstanding performances throughout. We started off a special all-star jazz tribute to James Moody which included the Newark Jazz Arkestra produced by Amiri Baraka and ended with energetic hip-hop performances by female emcee Rah Digga and more.”
